27-year-old arrested for stalking doctor in Dombivli

The Vishnunagar police have arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly stalking and molesting a doctor in Dombivli. The accused has been identified as Rupesh Madhukar Ranpise, a resident of Khumbharkhanpada in Dombivli (West).

According to the police, Ranpise had been stalking the victim, a doctor, from April 16.

The victim, who has her clinic in the Dombivli area, complained in her statement that the accused had stalked her and even when she tried to avoid him, he used to make some weird noise to attract her attention. Ranpise allegedly pulled her dupatta when she was going back home in her car after a day's work. The victim also alleged that on April 21, Ranpise had dropped a letter at her clinic. In the letter, she told the police, Ranpise professed his love for her and asked her to marry him. The doctor then lodged a complaint against him.

According to a police officer from Vishnunagar police station, Ranpise in his letter also said that he would do anything to get married to the victim.

"We have arrested the accused. He failed in SSC and never studied after that. As of now, he is unemployed. We have produced him in court and he has been given magisterial custody," he added.

The accused has been booked under Section 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code.
