23-yr-old aspiring journalist in Mumbai battles for life after tragic fall

The 23-year-old aspiring journalist, who fell out of a local train, continues to battle for her life on the second day of treatment at Sion Hospital. Tejashree Vaidya, a second-year postgraduate student of journalism, fell out of the local train after being hit by a pole between Matunga and Sion stations. She was on her way for her exams at KC College on Thursday morning.

Vaidya was looking forward to her cousin sister's wedding on April 27. Her family has now cancelled their plans to attend the wedding and want to stand beside her until she recovers completely. Vaidya, a student of Sathaye college in Vile Parle, was assigned KC College as the center for the examinations.

Vaidya fell out of the train at around 9.30 am in the nullah between Matunga and Sion stations. She cried for help for at least an hour before being rescued by the Government Railway Police and Railway Protection Force.

Pradnya Vaidya, her sister, said, "We are very hopeful that Teju will survive and she will come back home. The doctors have informed us about positive developments in her treatment as she is responding well to the treatment."

Meanwhile, the GRP has announced that their two constables Kishore Gawade and Sachin Honkhambe will be rewarded for showing alertness in saving the Vaidya's life.

Nitin Bobade, Senior Inspector, Dadar GRP, said, "We will be announcing a reward for our two constables for showing the presence of mind and alertness while conducting their duty to save the woman's life by rushing her at the hospital in time."
