At 10.30 pm on September 28, while Nilesh Borge and his friend Shahrukh were returning from a Navratri pandal via Ghorbunder road, a speeding car hit them while attempting to overtake a truck. While Shahrukh, who was riding the bike escaped with a bone dislocation, Nilesh, who was riding pillion, is on ventilator in Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital (KDAH), Andheri. The car that hit them did not stop after the collision and has not been traced.
Nilesh Borge, 23, a resident of Triveni Nagar in Kurar village, Malad. He is a Third Year student and takes up part time jobs and internships. Nilesh is admitted in ICU number 7 of the hospital and has been there for close to 10 days. He is under treatment for Polytrauma and as per the report of Director of Critical Care Medicine at (KDAH) Dr. Vatsal M Kothari, which dna accessed, Nilesh will be required to stay in the ICU for another 7-10 days. As per the report, he has multiple injuries to the chest and abdomen resulting in rib fractures, lung contusions and collapse, acute kidney insufficiency requiring dialysis, splenic laceration requiring splenectomy and fractures of the left humerus and right femur.
“We have already paid Rs.12 lakh towards the medical expenditure, which we managed to loan from family, friends. However, we will not be able to raise the remaining Rs. 10-12 lakh,” Nilesh’s brother Sudhir said. Nilesh’s family and friends have been running from pillar to post, from one charitable trust to another, to raise money for hospital bills but haven’t been able to raise enough money.
