In a hit-and-run case, an unidentified vehicle driver rammed into a 21-year-old man's motorbike at Jogeshwari, leading to his death. His family members allege that untimely medical help led to his death.

On Saturday, Sahil Mishra, a Jogeshwari resident, was on his way back home after completing an interview in Andheri when the accident took place at the Balasaheb Thackeray Bridge. A white tempo rammed into his vehicle.

"The driver of the vehicle did not stop after hitting the motorcyclist and fled after he saw him falling from the bike. The passers-by noticed the incident and tried to nab the tempo driver but he had sped off till then,"said an Oshiwara police officer. "The locals rushed him to a nearby trauma care hospital but he was declared dead before admission. The youth suffered multiple injuries due to the accident's impact," added the officer. "We have registered a case under section 304 (A) (causing death due to negligence) of the Indian Penal Code and under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act against the unidentified tempo driver," said the officer. "We are checking the CCTV footage near Dahisar Check Naka and nearby localities to identify the accused driver," said the officer.

Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased alleged that Mishra was not given timely treatment after the accident. "If Sahil would have been taken to the hospital on time, he could have survived. He lost a lot of blood till the time he was taken to the hospital," said a relative.
