Two unidentified bike-borne men snatched the chain of a 45-year-old woman in Andheri (East) on Tuesday afternoon. The victim, Aisha Afzal, a teacher, was on her way home in Andheri (West) from Lilavati Hospital with her husband when the incident happened. The victim's husband is RTI activist Mohammad Afzal.

Two unidentified bike-borne men snatched the chain of a 45-year-old woman in Andheri (East) on Tuesday afternoon. The victim, Aisha Afzal, a teacher, was on her way home in Andheri (West) from Lilavati Hospital with her husband when the incident happened. The victim's husband is RTI activist Mohammad Afzal.
What happened?
"We had stopped for some work in Andheri. After getting done with it, I went to fetch my car and asked my wife to wait opposite Air Arabia booking office in Chakala. While she was waiting, two young men on a bike came speeding and snatched the two chains she had on her." The chains that weighed six tolas were worth about Rs 1.5 lakh.
How did the victim get injured?
Her handbag got stuck in the handle of the motorcycle and she fell down and got dragged for 10 feet before the bike sped away. She sustained injuries on her neck, forearm and knees during the incident.
"The police, however, did not ask for a medical report. We got the medical certificates from a hospital. The police also informed us that CCTVs at the spot were not functional," said Afzal.
Policespeak
A case has been registered with the Vile Parle police for robbery and rash driving. "Our investigations are on. No arrests have been made yet," said an officer.
