The Kurar police from Malad have arrested a man in connection with the murder of a 30-year-old tailor who had gone missing two months ago. The accused, Maqbool Hasan, confessed killing Sadiq Hali Charmiya, a resident of Govandi, to the Shivaji Nagar police on Wednesday. A missing complaint had been lodged by the family of the deceased in August when Charmiya did not return home from work. Hasan committed the crime as he was enraged over the fact that Charmiya was trying to get intimate with his (Hasan's) sister-in-law, said the police.

"The duo got into a fight and Hasan slashed his throat with a blade and later dumped his body in a drain. His body is yet to be recovered. The accused confessed as was unable to live a normal life after killing somebody. He surrendered before the police," said a police officer. Since the incident had happened behind a mall in Malad East, he was arrested by the Kurar police. Hasan has been booked for murder and destruction of evidence and has been remanded in police custody. Search is on to find the body of the deceased, said the police.
