The city crime branch sleuths recently arrested two persons for stealing the licensed revolver of a city-based plastic surgeon. The arrestees were identified as Rampreet Verma and Vinod Yadav. Verma had worked as domestic help for the surgeon, police said.

According to the police, the complainant bought a .32 bore revolver on September 6, 2006 and possessed an arms license. He has a clinic near Charni Road station, where he used to keep the revolver in a drawer. He shuts his clinic at 9pm every day.

"On March 16, the complainant opened the drawer to take some money when he realised that his revolver, a digital camera and Rs20,000 in cash were missing. He lodged a complaint with the VP Road police station. A police team then went to the spot and checked the CCTV footage. Our probe revealed that someone used a duplicate key to enter the clinic," said a crime branch officer.

He added, "The CCTV footage revealed that on March 13 at 10.21pm, a person entered the clinic. The complainant identified the man as Verma, who used to work as a domestic help for him eight months ago."

The Unit II of crime branch, which was doing a parallel probe in the case, apprehended Verma and Yadav on April 9. Their custody was later handed over to the VP Road police. The duo will be in the police custody till April 18.

"We are yet to recover the stolen property," said the officer.
