2 foreigners nabbed from Mumbai International Airport for smuggling gold worth Rs 2.11 crore

The accused have been identified as Yoguy Rafidison from Madagascar and Rajeev Santilal from France.

The Air Intelligence Unit of Customs, on Saturday, arrested two foreigners from the Mumbai International Airport for allegedly smuggling 7.37 kilograms of gold biscuits worth Rs 2.11 crore.

The accused have been identified as Yoguy Rafidison from Madagascar and Rajeev Santilal from France. 

According to the police, the accused had arrived at the Airport from Dubai. While they were proceeding towards the exit, the officials stopped them to conduct a search. The gold bars bore foreign marking and were concealed in specially made pockets of a jacket.

"We are now trying to ascertain on whose behest they smuggled the gold in the country and whether they are carriers," said an AIU official.
