The Dharavi police, investigating the case of alleged gang rape of a 34-year-old woman in a moving car, have detained two people, aged 34 and 32, in connection with the case and are questioning them.

A victim approached Dharavi police station on Tuesday alleging that she had been raped by two people in a moving car. She had been lured into the car by being offered a lift. In her complaint to the police, the victim has said that of the two accused one was known to her. The two of them had raped her inside the car, while two others—the driver and another unidentified person—were witnesses to it.

The police are currently trying to verify the claims made by the victim.

"We are investigating the case and are collecting details of call records and location to ascertain the presence of the accused. Close Circuit Television Cameras fitted at Dharavi T Junction through which place the complainant says the car passed, will also be checked," said AB Pawar, senior police inspector, Dharavi police station.

Pawar added: "We have detained two in connection with the case and are looking for the other two. We are trying to find out if there are any eyewitnesses who can back the victim's claim as the place that she identified as the scene of crime is one where there are generally people around and vehicles pass by."

According to the police, the victim knew the prime accused. One of them operates a garment business and she has bought clothes from him. She had said the two are brothers, but our investigations revealed that they are not, police said.
