Two men were killed while two others were injured when the driver of a Maruti A-Star car lost control over his vehicle and crashed into a wall on the Eastern Express Highway in Vikhroli on Monday.

“Vikaskumar Singh (21), the driver, and his friend Saurabh Kambli (22), who was seated behind him, died on the spot. The injured were identified as Vijay Kamble, and Sunny Naidu, both 30,” said Mahipat Indalkar, senior inspector of the Vikhroli police station, adding that they have registered a case against Singh.

Preliminary investigations revealed that both the deceased had completed their hotel management course and were working as assistant stewards at a five-star hotel in Powai. The injured, Kamble, works as a butler and Naidu serves as a senior captain. Kamble was seated beside Singh while Naidu was seated next to Kambli.

“Singh was driving the car at a high speed, and while overtaking another vehicle, he lost control and hit a tree. Following this, the car toppled and collided against a wall on the service road. The right side of the car hit the wall, killing Singh and Kambli on the spot,” added the inspector.
