A two-day theatre festival on the life of celebrated Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee will be organised in the city on April 23 and 24.
Navoday Sangh, a 20-year-old socio-cultural club based in Thane West, and Spandan, a socio-philanthropic organisation founded in 2013, are organising the event, titled 'Bohurupe Soumitra'. Three notable plays of Chatterjee will be staged in Mumbai for the first time during the festival. These include Bostomi — based on a short story by Rabindranath Tagore — and Kalmrigaya, which is based on a lyrical poem by the author.
The venues for the event are Kashinath Ghanekar Natya Gruha in Thane West and Sivaswamy Auditorium in Chembur. Passes for the plays are available on bookmyshow.com and at the venues from April 18. A portion of the proceeds will be given to Divya Graha and Amcha Ghar, NGOs that work with orphans and destitute children.
