On Wednesday late night, a 25-year-old man was bludgeoned to death by two carpenters for allegedly demanding a furniture delivery. The Kherwadi police have arrested two carpenter brothers and have seized a hockey stick and a hammer from the spot.

According to police, Sudhir Pawar, 25, a resident of Bandra went to the furniture store belonging to carpenter Chotelal Sahani,34 near Gousiya masjid on the Western Express Highway, placed an order for furniture, and asked him to deliver it. When Sahani refused to accept the demand, Pawar and Sahani got into a verbal fight and in a fit of rage picked up a hockey stick and assaulted Pawar. Rakesh Sahani, 24,brother of Sahani intervened and joined in assaulting Pawar after using his hammer from the toolkit and repeatedly hit him on the head.

"Relatives of Pawar rushed him to Bhabha hospital but he died during the treatment. Sahani too has been injured in the scuffle. We have arrested both the carpenter brothers," said a Kherwadi police officer.

"We have registered a case under section 302 (murder) and 34 (common intent) of the Indian Penal Code and the accused has been remanded in police custody up to November 13," said Rajendra Patil, Senior Inspector, Kherwadi police station.
