A 17-year-old boy from Turbhe Naka, who sexually assaulted a five-year-old girl, has been arrested by the police on Thursday. The police said, the boy worked with a scrap shop at Turbhe Naka. He sexually assaulted the girl when the latter went to his shop for selling some bottles on Wednesday afternoon.

"Around 2.30 pm on Wednesday the victim, a resident of Ambedkar nagar in Turbhe, went to the shop for selling some liquor bottles. There was no one else in the shop at that time. Taking advantage of the situation, the boy removed her clothes and sexually assaulted her," said KN Gawade, police sub inspector from Trubhe MIDC police station. On reaching home, the girl narrated the entire episode to her mother. Her mother approached the police on Thursday and registered a case against him. The police picked up the boy from the shop.

"We have booked the accused under sections 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections five (m), six and eight of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. He will be sent to a remand home at Bhiwandi after being produced before the judicial court as he is also a minor," said Gawade. The victim was sent to a hospital for medical tests, and the reports confirmed the sexual assaults on her. She is now stable, informed another police officer.
