Family members of a 14 year-old child whose dead body has been kept at Bhagwati hospital have refused to claim unless the Kandivali police register a murder case in the matter. The deceased boy identified as Arun Kumar Gautam was found dead from a Kandivali based bangle factory on January 30, 2019 after which he was rushed at Shatabdi hospital in Kandivali where he was declared dead on arrival. Arun's family have alleged that the factory owners have thrashed him badly following which, he succumbed to his injuries and died on the spot.

According to the Arun's uncle Manoj, Arun was employed at a bangle making unit of a private factory at Sanjay Nagar at Kandivali west area which was owned by two owners identified as Pradeep Chauhan and Anand Chauhan. "Arun's family are originally residents of Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh and he used to stay in the factory along with other workers. Five days back, we received a call saying that Arun was admitted to a hospital as he met with an accident. We immediately left for Mumbai from Jaunpur and over coming here, we witnessed some injury marks over Arun's body which deepened our doubts against the factory owners. Also two eye witness of the incident were sent back to their village by the owners to escape arrest," said Manoj while speaking to DNA.

Hurling further allegations, Manoj said that owing to bad financial situation of the entire family, Arun had came to the city to earn so that he is able to manage his livelihood.

"In the initial days, Arun had no issues with his superiors but once, he made some mistake due to which total 7 kilograms of bangles were damaged due to some quality deterioration. Getting infuriated over this, the owners thrashed Arun so badly that he lost his life. The hospital authorities told us that the post mortem report shall be made available after six months, so till that time, we are completely clueless about how Arun died. Unless the police takes serious cognizance of the matter and register an FIR against the owner, we shall not claim the body from the hospital morgue," added Manoj.

Speaking over the issue, senior police inspector of Kandivali police station, Nitin Pondkule said, "The matter is being investigated and after all the angles are investigated and all facts are examined, most appropriate action will be taken. At present, we have registered an ADR and all the concerned people are being called for questioning and recording the statement respectively,"
