The Shiv Sena's young leader, Aditya Thackeray, has claimed that there are no potholes on the new roads built by the Sena - BJP led Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. But the reality is starkly different. As of Monday, 1,274 potholes have been reported from across the city, and Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta has asked the engineers of the Roads department as well as Assistant Commissioners of the civic wards to do a quality check of the materials used to fill the potholes.

The 1,274 reports about potholes come from citizens who used the BMC's website dedicated for the purpose of reporting potholes. 55 potholes are on newly built roads, while 60 potholes are on roads under guarantee period. 38 potholes were reported on roads where potholes were already filled.

Mehta, on Monday visited Santacruz and Bandra areas to take a review of the pothole filling work done by the contractors on behalf of the municipal corporation.
