Creating a flutter, Shiv Sena MLA from Parbhani Dr Rahul Patil claimed that over 100 Muslim youths from Marathwada had gone missing and were likely to be in touch with the dreaded ISIS.
The Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) has already arrested Naser Bin Yafai Chaus from Marathwada for alleged links with the ISIS.
"Police records say that 100 youths from Marathwada have gone missing," said Patil, raising the issue in the state legislative assembly on Friday. There was a chance that they could commit acts of terror in India, he said, adding that a special cell should deal with the issue.
However, AIMIM MLA from Aurangabad Imtiaz Jaleel, whose party had demonstrated against the arrest, said there were instances in the past wherein youths arrested for their alleged involvement in terror activities were exonerated by courts. All that they were seeking, he said, was a fair trial.
"Let the police investigate. We have always condemned... terrorism and strongly condemned ISIS," Jaleel added.
