1 killed in Bandra bike mishap

A 20-year-old man was killed while his friend sustained grievous injuries after their bike crashed into a barrier on a flyover at Bandra. The two youngsters fell off the bridge and landed on the Sea Link Road.

According to the police, the incident occurred at around 10.30pm on Friday. The driver, Rahim Shaikh (20), and Yakub Shaikh (18) were going from Kalanagar to Andheri. Rahim was speeding and lost control over his Bajaj Pulsar.

Both of them were flung off the bridge and landed below. The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital where Yakub was declared dead on arrival. Rahim was later shifted to KEM Hospital.

Some eyewitnesses told the police that there was a wire hanging on the flyover due to which Rahim lost control over the vehicle.

Police said they will be recording Rahim’s statement to ascertain the sequence of events that led to the mishap. The Bandra police have registered a case of accidental death.
