MNS legislators today created a ruckus in the Maharashtra assembly after Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Asim Azmi took the oath in Hindi despite MNS leader Raj Thackeray's call to all legislators to take the pledge in Marathi. One of the legislators of Thackeray's brigade went so far as to slap Azmi.
Soon after Azmi began taking the oath in Hindi, the 13-member MNS contingent rushed towards Azmi, snatching the mike placed at the podium for taking oath. They shouted slogans and demanded that Azmi take the oath in Marathi.
The house was adjourned for 30 minutes as the pandemonium continued. Later MNS legislator Ram Kadam slapped Azmi.
