What measures do you have in place to tackle a terror attack?

We have a dedicated staff of 12 policemen and four officers during the festive season and weekends. We ensure that our policemen are in the market chowki which attends to all issues on an urgent basis.

How do you monitor activities in the market area?

We have eight CCTV cameras which keep a close watch on pedestrians. We also take help from private showrooms outside the station for footage of any suspects. We also have policemen in plain clothes.

How much are you prepared to tackle a terror-like situation?

We have our Anti-Terror Cell which keeps a check on suspects. We verify their whereabouts on a regular basis and also collect inputs from various agencies. The roads are congested towards the market area and it becomes difficult for police vans to be deployed.

Do you have safety measures?

We cannot obstruct the movement of vehicles near the market. Installing anti-ramming barricades underneath the pedestrian bypass is not possible.
