Mistakes committed last year won't be repeated, says Maharashtra Education Minister Vinod Tawde

Q) Is the online admission process at entry level applicable to all students?
A) No, online admissions are only applicable under the Right to Education (RTE) quota.

Q) What about minority institutions?
A) Minority institutions have got exemption from the RTE quota with the help of the court. However, they will have to show that 25 per cent seats are being given to minority students.

Q) Many parents are complaining that schools are taking interviews of their children, which is not allowed by the education department. Will action be taken against such schools?
A) It is true that interviews are not allowed. If parents come to us with a complaint, strict action will be taken against those schools.

Q) There were lot of problems last year in the RTE quota admission process. Google maps were not showing schools with RTE quota in the vicinity? Are these issues being rectified?
A) The mistakes that happened last year will be corrected this year.

Q) Most Delhi board schools start from April while admissions under RTE get over after June. Because of this, students miss out on classes. Will department come out with a solution to this?
A) I don't think students are missing out on classes because of the RTE admission process. It is due to the parents' mistake. Even after getting admission for their child in one school, parents still run to other schools and make their child change schools in the middle of the academic year. That is why the child misses out.

Q) Most schools mention on their admission forms that there is no guarantee of children studying in pre-primary getting promoted to standard 1? Would you take action against them?
A) This problem cannot be controlled as there is still no governing body to take action on such activities.
