Q) Why didn't you object when German was introduced in Kendriya Vidyalaya in 2011?
A) We had opposed it then as well and had filed a plea in the Delhi high court. But the media didn't give us any coverage that time.
Q) Why RSS is opposed to German language?
A) We have no objection if German language is being offered as an extra language. Everything should be within the framework of the Constitution. The three-language formula was adopted by the government on the basis of the Kothari Commission Report in 1968, which stated that the third language can be any Indian language from the pool of 22. The UPA government flouted the Constitution and enforced German as the third language, which we sought to correct.
Q: You want kids to study Sanskrit which doesn't have good career prospects, but are opposed to a foreign language which can offer good opportunities.
A) Even German offers no career opportunities in India. Also, they don't teach German so effectively to the kids so as to help them to make a career out of it. Students can study the language as a hobby course which CBSE schools offer. And why must our schools must learn only German? Even Mandarin, French or Japanese are important from a career point of view.
Q) Dinanath Batra has courted several controversies. He is said to be giving inputs for the new education policy being framed at MHRD. Why he is so keen to change the education system?
A) He has raised valid issues and there have been 11 court orders in his favour, including that of Wendy Doniger's case. Everything is being politicised by the Opposition and a section of media. We have not given any inputs to the MHRD yet.
