Heavy rains threw normal life out of gear in the city on Tuesday, leading to waterlogging in low-lying areas and disrupting local train services that hampered mobility of thousands in the morning rush hours.
Flights from Mumbai airport were delayed due to the rains. A fire broke out on Linking Road Bandra that is now under control.
After the initial deluge, train services on the Western and Central lines have begun to function normally.
For the next 48 hours, the Met department has predicted occasional rain and showers, with one or two heavy spells of rain. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 31 and 26 degree celsius respectively.

Iamin reports that the Western line has been closed ahead of Andheri due to waterlogging at Bandra. Waterlogging at Sion has caused Central line trains between Thane and Kurla to be shut down. Trains on the Harbour line are still working but with major delay.
No slow trains are plying at Thane. Fast trains running towards Karjat and Kasara are on platform 2.
The next high tide of 3.98mtr is expected to be at 3.40 pm.
Certain long distance trains have been cancelled. Among the cancelled trains are Ahmedabad Express, Bandra-Surat Inter-city Express, Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express, Mumbai Central-Porbundar Express and Bandra Terminus-Vapi passenger train.

The fire at the KFC building in Bandra, in fact started in a mobile shop there. The fire was caused by short circuit.
Motorists are adviced to avoid Linking Road and use SV road instead, till Rajasthan Hotel.

Here are updates from local media reports on rains and waterlogging across the city -
In Palghar, schools have closed for the day.
In Vasai and Virar, relief operations underway. Communication lines have been cut with 20 villages in Virar.
Heavy rains are reported in Dahanu and Talasari.
In Thane, as a result of waterlogging on tracks, trains from Platforms 1 and 3 have been cancelled.
Traffic near the airport is slow, but normal traffic on roads bound southward.
Waterlogging has been reported in Bandra and Linking Road.

A tree has collapsed in Malad.

Central Railway services were temporarily suspended on all four tracks due to waterlogging near Sion. The train services have now resumed.

Alarm has been sounded at Ulhas River in Ambernath-Badlapur area. The river is expected to overrun the bridge and neighbouring low lying areas.
According to information received from the BEST Control room at 9:45 am, due to water logging road traffic has been diverted from Maheshwari Udyan , Shell Colony and Khardeo Nagar in Chembur and Samaj Mandir Hall in Manjrekar Marg.

There is waterlogging at Milan Subway.
Rain destroys an elevated parking lot and adjoining wall at Carter Road, Bandra, sending cars rolling onto the road.
PRO for Western Railways, Sharat Chandrayan says,"Heavy water logging in Bandra and Khar station. Water is being pumped out. Trains are expected to start in 20 minutes."
PRO for Central Railways, Narendra Patil says, "Trains affected after 9:20 am. Chembur, Ghatkopar, Sion, Kurla, Matunga, GTB stations have waterlogging. Trains are running late by 25 minutes."
Western Railways has announced that due to waterlogging at Bandra, Western line trains are delayed by around 20 minutes.
Breaches between Palgar and Boisar down trains (DRD side) will be regulated beyond Virar for next 2-3 hours

The Khar subway is already flooded with knee deep water and traffic has been suspended.
In the first few hours alone waterlogging has been reported in along the Central line of the Mumbai local. Waterlogging in tracks at Palghar, Boisar and Kalyan has delayed the Central Line trains by 30-40 minutes.
A tree collapsed at Kandiwali (East) highway near Thakur Complex. Traffic towards Malad is moving slow.
