On Monday we accepted an invitation to attend the launch of a Swiss watchmaker’s new line of aquatic watches, which had been created in partnership with the ‘Save the Creatures of the Sea’ foundation. We were persuaded to stay back for the cocktails that followed the event. The oysters on toast and shark fin canapés were particularly good, we noted.

Tuesday saw us at the ‘Alternative Energy Resources Charity Dinner'. It was heartening to see that the city’s movers and shakers had taken the earth’s impending fuel crisis so seriously and had turned up in large numbers. The road outside the hotel where it was held was blocked for almost a mile with their swank limousines.

On Wednesday, we responded positively to the summons to participate in the Vegan War: a symposium held to bring awareness on the politics of food and the disadvantages of meat eating. After a heated — and successful — discussion the organisers and the guests decided to catch some burgers and cokes at the fast food joint across the road.

Thursday we were busy with the ‘Back to Nature’ party. Ten top socialites had been asked to talk about their contribution to holistic living and simplicity. We particularly liked what the lady in the pink polyester dress had to say. And her green contact lenses gave her eyes an arresting sparkle which complimented her recent Botox enhancement.
Friday we attended a seminar on Climate Change. We were particularly distressed about our earth’s vulnerability, and pledged our support to do our bit to cut down carbon emission. The only complaint we had was that the air conditioning had been turned too high during the function and we shivered through the afternoon.

Saturday we attended a cancer prevention camp. We watched films and heard speakers talk about the advantages of healthy living. We took many valuable notes while we smoked and sipped coffee.

Sunday what did we do? Oh yes, we rested! After all how good can one be?
