Mumbai citizen Indrani Malkani on why she is pining hopes on her elected representative

Dear Mr. Lodha,

The Malabar Hill Vidhan Sabha Constituency is perceived to be the most elite constituency in Mumbai. The reality, however, is far from it. This constituency represents all of the city's problems in a miniature form.
The problem areas
1.Coastal security: Dedicated personnel with proper training and suitable equipment is needed, in addition to a mechanism for the coordination of the allied agencies.
2.Preservation of beaches and the provision of certain essential services at these locations.
3. The recruitment standards of and the equipment provided to lifeguards should be on par with international standards.
4. Removal of slums from critical areas such as the seafront and the slopes of hills along with affordable community housing for the rehabilitation of the slum dwellers.
5. Sanitation, with a special focus on women's needs.
6. Establishment of area fire stations to cater to the nearest neighbourhoods.
7. Redevelopment of tenanted and dilapidated buildings with checks towards protecting the interests of the flat buyers and also ensuring that the immediate environment is protected.
8. Pedestrian-friendly subways should be constructed on arterial roads.
9. Preserving heritage precincts such as the Banganga.
10. Installation of CCTVs on the roads must be expedited.
11. Ensuring the uniformity of implementation of various policies. This is particularly important in respect to transport issues and urban development. The state government administration and the Members of the Legislative Assembly must implement such policies seamlessly.
Citizens also need to stay involved with our elected representatives who will bring about better systems.
