Love to hate you!

Television actress Shama Sikander talks about her love-hate relationship with Adarsh Nagar, Andheri (W)

Love to hate you!

I live in Adarsh Nagar, Andheri (W), and the best part is that everything is close by in terms of work and friends. So let's talk about what I like first.

I like the fact that this location is central for my work and most of my friends live in and around Adarsh Nagar. So it becomes very convenient for me to meet up and spend time with them instead of wasting my time stuck in Mumbai traffic. I could go to Juhu and Bandra from here if I need to and I can go to Malad or Filmcity too regarding my work. The home delivery system in this area is quite good when you want to order food; fine dining restaurants are also great.

What I don't like about this area is the strange smell coupled with too much pollution and dirt. The claustrophobic environment is another aspect that I don't like; everything is so stuck to each other that there is no space to breathe. The roads are pathetic and not clean and I wish that BMC would take corrective measures.

There is also a huge population in the area leaving no space for expansion. That's why people are moving to Malad and other suburban areas. The authorities need to get the roads fixed first if they want to control the traffic. Because of all the concrete, there is hardly any greenery on the roads, which are already very narrow with no parking space. The authorities need to build places or grounds where people can park their cars instead of parking them on the road, which worsens the traffic situation. I think that the pollution and traffic need to be controlled at the earliest. Lastly, we need a green revolution in this part of the city.
