Lokhandwala: love at first sight

When Karanvir (Bohra) and I first moved to Lokhandwala from Bandra, in 2008, we had only intended to stay for a year or so. We had just gotten married; we were both working in television; we had shoots in Goregaon so it made sense for us to move here. Given Mumbai's traffic situation, you have to stay close to where you work. That move happened six years ago and we're still here! I loved Lokhandwala from the very first day that I got here. It is got something that Bandra will never have—space.

I loved that we picked a house on the Lokhandwala back road. It is a lovely area with wide roads and lots of trees. Our apartment is spacious with a beautiful terrace and an amazing 15th floor view—we love to sip our evening coffee there. We could move back to Bandra but having so much greenery around is very important to me, so I'd rather stay here.

I am also addicted to the vibe of this area. On any given day, if I go wandering around alone, I will run into people I love. Lokhandwala has become a hub for the television and film fraternity, so most of my friends are here. I don't even need a car since all my favourite hang-outs—movie theatres, gyms, coffee shops—are less than a 10-minute walk from my house. Oh and I have to mention my favourite local hang-out, Sammy Sosa! I love Mexican food and I love the warmth of the people that work there.

At the moment, we're actually looking for a bigger house, but it'll have to be somewhere close by. There is just too much that I would miss if I ever left this area. Home is where the heart is…and mine is here in Lokhandwala.
