Offering sweets, relative rapes 5 kids for 2 years.

A 40-year-old man from Vasai has been arrested for raping five minor girls from the same family. What is worse is that he is believed to be their relative.

According to an officer from the Valiv police station, the accused, Ramesh, raped the five girls, who are between the ages of 7 and 13, in a span of 2 years by giving them Rs10-15 and offering them sweets and chocolates. The issue came to light when one of the girls complained to her mother of pain in her private parts.

Superintendent of police of Thane Rural, Anil Kumbhare has formed a special team of policewomen to investigate the case on a priority basis. “The team including deputy superintendent of police Ashwini Shelar, police inspector Kaviyatri Gavit and assistant police inspector Priyatma Muthe will probe the case,” senior police inspector Rajendra Mohite said.

The accused has been arrested under sections 376 (rape) and 354 (molestation) of the Indian Penal Code and under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

Mohite added that they are awaiting the girls’ medical reports and that a Vasai sessions court remanded Ramesh in police custody till March 28.

Neighbour rapes 11-yr-old in her mother’s absence

A 11-year-old girl from Ketkipada in Dahisar (East) was raped repeatedly by her 20-year-old neighbour for a period of three months.

Between December 2012 and February, the accused, Ravindra Devram alias Babu, raped the girl in a nearby forest.

An officer from the Dahisar police station said, “The girl lives with her mother, a housemaid, and would often go with her to the forest to wash clothes.”

In December, her mother left for Ghaziabad for a few months. During this time, the victim used to go to the forest alone to wash clothes. The accused allegedly took this as an opportunity and raped her in the forest several times.

After her mother returned last week, she noticed her daughter trying to hide when she saw him in the forest. “She grew suspicious and grilled her daughter about it after which, the girl finally told her what had happened during her absence. The mother confronted the man and then filed a police complaint on Wednesday,” senior police inspector Ansar Pirjade said.

While medical test confirmed that the girl was raped, a manhunt has been launched to nab the absconding accused.
