The Vashi GRP on Monday arrested an autorickshaw driver who, in an inebriated state, threw an empty glass bottle at a Panvel local near Govandi station, injuring two women in the local.
“Rizwan Usman Sheikh, 40, was booked under section 152 (maliciously hurting or attempt to hurt person travelling in train) of the Indian Railway Act. He was remanded in police custody till March 20 by the local court,” said PM Karyakarte, senior inspector of the Vashi GPR station.
During investigation, the GRP personnel detained seven people. Their interrogation revealed that they, including Sheikh, had gathered in an open compound outside the Govandi station to drink on March 12. A drunk Sheikh threw the empty liquor bottle at the running train and then they all went home.
