The Kurla GRP officials have released a CCTV grab of an unidentified conman on Saturday who approached a 58-year-old woman at Kanjurmarg railway station and told that her son was lying drunk near Vikhroli-Goregaon Link Road. He offered to take there. On reaching the place, he robbed her gold rings and fled.

The victim, Shakuntala Patil, is a resident of Karve Nagar, Kanjurmarg (E). On February 10 at 8.15pm, Patil was waiting for the local train when the man spoke to her. As her son is an alcoholic, she believed the man and they set out to the link road together.

As soon as they reached a secluded spot on the link road, the accused took her gold rings and fled. The woman screamed for help but in vain.

After reaching home, she told her son about the incident. The mother-son duo then filed a complaint against the man with the GRP.

“We have registered a case of robbery and cheating against the unidentified person. We have sent copies of the CCTV footage grab to all GRP stations in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai,” said Shekhar Shinde, sub-inspector from Kurla GRP station.

The general public could also contact the Kurla GRP station on 022-26500712 or sub-inspector Shekhar Shinde on 9823978667 if they happen to know recognise the accused.
