During the assembly session on Friday, the opposition alleged that despite the severe drought that Maharashtra was facing, the Congress-NCP government was squandering nearly Rs100 crore.

During the assembly session on Friday, the opposition alleged that despite the severe drought that Maharashtra was facing, the Congress-NCP government was squandering nearly Rs100 crore on contracts to supply quality food to the chief minister and deputy chief minister’s official residence at Malbar Hill.  The government, however, issued a clarification later stating that it was a printing error.

The state had issued a tender notice in a city-based English tabloid inviting various contractors to supply food to Prithviraj Chavan and Ajit Pawar.
Opposition leader Eknath Kadase raised this issue in the session on Friday.

Criticising the extravagant expenditure, Kadase said it was a shame on the state and its ministers for not being serious about the drought-ridden regions and caring more about getting high quality food.

Following this, the chief minister’s office issued a clarification stating that it was a typographical error and that the order was worth Rs1 crore and not Rs100 crore as printed.
