In a shocking incident, a 35-year-old Juhu-based businessman was robbed by two people on Monday evening at gunpoint in Juhu area and they abducted the victim in his car, brought him to south Mumbai and withdrew Rs15,000 from ATM using his debit card.
Interestingly when the victim came at the Juhu police station to lodge complaint, the police officer showed him the CCTV footage of similar case which had taken place in last month with the similar modus operendi, one of the accused turned same who robbed him.
The Juhu police then managed to nab the both accused who have been identified as Shivpal Singh, 31, who is a native of Uttar Pradesh while Krishnachandra Sharma, 32, who is a native of Ranchi in Jharkhand. During the interrogation police came to know that the accused had come few days ago and was staying in guest house in Mumbai central.
According to the police, the victim Vipul Chokse, who is a businessman and resides in Juhu Sheetal society situated in Juhu scheme at Juhu area. The incident took place on Monday between 7.30 to 9.30pm when the victim was going in his car near Cooper hospital the accused first forcibly entered in his vehicle and threatened with his dare consequences.
After that they abducted the victim in his car and brought away to Ballard Pier in South Mumbai where they robbed his laptop along with Rs 6,500 cash and debit card. Later duo withdrew Rs 15,000 from an ATM of a nationalised bank at Ballard Pier.
"After that the victim approached to the Juhu police station and lodged complaint. Listening the incident juhu police alerted and showed him the CCTV footage of the old case is somewhat similar to that which occurred last month wherein another businessman was abducted by two people at gun point from Vile Parle and taken to south Mumbai. After seeing the footage victim shocked and identified one of the accused who threatened him and robbed his valuables" said police officer of the Juhu police station.
"We have arrested both the accused and they will be producing in the court on Wednesday. Accused used the same modus operandi to rob the victim and it appears that more cases will open during the interrogation" said senior police inspector, Arun Bhagat of the Juhu police station.
