Class VIII student hangs herself

Apparently depressed over her upcoming exams, a Class VIII student committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her home in Mira Road’s Kashimira area on Sunday. The 15-year-old girl was found hanging by her father.

Police said the girl, a student of a Marathi medium school in Mira Road, took the extreme step while her family members were fast asleep.

“We were sleeping in our room.  When I went to the toilet I found my daughter hanging from the ceiling in the living room. We alerted our neighbour and rushed her to the hospital but she was declared brought dead by the doctors,” the girl’s father said.

“We have registered a case of accidental death and are investigating the case. We were informed by her family members that her exams were round the corner and she might have committed suicide due to that. However, we will investigate the case from all angles and will interrogate her school friends,” said a police official.
