A decomposed body of an unidentified woman was found at a secluded place here, police said on Friday.
The body, bearing wounds, was found in a valley amid trees near Balkapra bridge in Jawhar taluka of Thane district last evening after people near the area complained of foul smell, police inspector KN Avchar said.
The woman, around 20-25 years of age, was suspected to have been murdered a couple of days back as the body was highly decomposed, he said.
It seemed she had been attacked with some blunt object, he sad.
A case has been registered against the unknown killer under section 302 of IPC, he said, adding that a search was on to nab the culprit and efforts were underway to identify the deceased.
