Help kills self at actor Ayushmann Khurrana's Goregaon flat

Actor Ayushmann Khurrana’s domestic help was found hanging in his first floor apartment at Anmol Pride, Goregaon (W) on Sunday night. API Arvind Pawar, investigating officer of Goregaon police, said the deceased, Rudraprasad Kafle, was seen last with the actor’s driver on February 28.

“In the afternoon, the driver  and Kafle left together to collect a pay cheque. The driver also dropped him back home in the evening,” Pawar added.

The 26-year-old domestic help has been working for the Khurrana family for the past five years. He used to live in their house. The actor and his family have been away for the past one month. 

The incident came to light on Sunday, when a foul smell started emanating from the actor’s apartment. “As the house was locked from inside, the secretary of the building called the actor, who gave them permission to enter the house,” said a security guard at the society.  

A housekeeper was then asked to use a ladder to look through the apartment window. When he saw Kafle’s body hanging from the ceiling fan, the police were informed.

Pawar added, “We rushed to the spot and with the help of a keymaker, unlocked the front door in the presence of neighbours. We found Kafle’s body hanging from the fan.”

The post-mortem report has revealed that Kafle committed suicide at least 2-3 days before his body was found. The police have not found any suicide note.

Pawar said, “There were talks of his marriage going on at his village in Nepal. Some disagreement over it could have prompted him to do this.”

Ayushmann, who is still in Delhi, said, “It is very unfortunate and I’m saddened by the news of Kafle committing suicide.”
