An HSC student affected by increased power cuts in her vicinity, fainted on the road after appearing for her political science exam. Sheetal Pandey, a resident of Nallasopara (East) and an Arts student of Lokmanya Junior College, fainted at Chandan Nagar, Vikhroli and was taken to a nearby clinic.
Her parents have blamed the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for her condition.
“There have been no lights from the 26th and I have been forced to study under the candlelight. I am expecting only passing marks in my exams,” said Sheetal.
While the girl’s father states that he has paid MSEDCL a bill of Rs15,240, the authorities insist that the electricity supply to the house has been disconnected for two months now. “I made several rounds of the MSEDCL office but my electricity was not restored. The records show that our meter was disconnected because of which the authorities had not sent us the bills. After making the payment now, the problem still persists,” said Sushil Pandey, they girl’s father.
When confronted, KC Pathak, deputy executive engineer (MSEDCL) accepted the mistake and said that action will be taken against the junior engineer TP Singh who was responsible for the goof up.
