Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithiviraj Chavan today assured to take up the pending developmental work in the region including extension of runway at the local airport, four-laning of Akola-Khamgao road and setting up of two sub stations of 33 KV for improved power supply.

Reviewing various developmental projects at Akola in western Vidarbha region today, Chavan said night landing facility would be installed at Akola airport soon and the work on extension of the existing runway up to 2,100 metres would be taken up on a priority basis.

He also asked officials to complete the land acquisition for the four-laning of the Akola-Khamgaon road.

He said the successful hosting of 'Advantage Vidarbha' early this week would go a long way in the development of region including Akola.

He also informed that since there were problems in converting Akola-Khandwa metre gauge line into broad gauge, the government was thinking in terms of diverting the route to commence the work at the earliest.
