A 14-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself at her home in Dahisar (East) on Tuesday. The deceased, Vijaya Solankhi, whose lost her mother over six years ago, used to stay with her aunt in Bandra.
She was upset that her father, who is a sweeper, had got her to their Rawalpada home in Dahisar (East) about a week ago, insisting that she stay with him and her 16-year-old brother.
An officer from Dahisar police station said that the girl was not too happy as she wanted to stay with her aunt. “She was angry and depressed and this could have led her to end her life,” said the official.
The family’s poor financial condition possibly made things worse for her, said the officer.
