Motorists faced a harrowing time on Tuesday as the city witnessed traffic jams at several places. A collision between two vehicles at Kalanagar junction in Bandra disrupted traffic for over an hour. Motorists travelling towards Kalanagar, Mahim, Bandra via Dharavi were affected.
“The mishap took place around 11.45am. By the time the cars were removed, there was a major backlog up to Sion. It took over two hours to bring traffic movement back to normal,” said a traffic police officer.
In the evening, traffic moved at a snail’s pace at Currey Road and Mahalaxmi. While the traffic jam at Mahalaxmi was because of a programme at the Royal Western India Turf Club, the backlog at Currey Road was due to Shiv Sainiks sitting on the flyover on the eve of Bal Thackeray’s birth anniversary.
“A mishap in Chinchpokli later worsened the situation,” the officer said.
