Eleven injured in cylinder blast at Bhiwandi

A fire that broke out in Rajnavali Naka near Kalyan-Bhiwandi by-pass on Nashik highway road due to a suspected cylinder blast left eleven persons injured on Tuesday.

A fire that broke out in Rajnavali Naka near Kalyan-Bhiwandi by-pass on Nashik highway road due to a suspected cylinder blast left eleven persons injured on Tuesday.

All the injured person were initially brought to Thane Civil hospital for treatment. Eight of them who were grievously injured were later shifted to hospitals in Mumbai. The patients were shifted from Indira Gandhi Hospital in Bhiwandi to BMC-run Sion Hospital and Masina Hospital in Byculla later in the evening. One female and seven males have suffered from severe burns injuries ranging between 25 to 55 percent. The patients are critical at the moment.
 

Three water tanks from Bhiwandi Fire brigade and one from Kalyan fire brigade were rushed to the spot. Also three private water tankers were brought to stop the fire that broke out at 5:45pm.

According to the fire officials the fire took place at 5:45pm at the scrap godown, which are located in line. "The fire took place 5:45pm today. 11 people from the godown have suffered burn injuries. The fire is suspected to be due to blast of a cylinder within the godown." said a fire official from Kalyan Fire brigade.

The officers also added that the place is illegally constructed and debris is lying on the road led to the conflagration.
