While Chandubhai Thesiya was sentenced to seven years and five years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs10,000 and Rs5,000, under separate charges, Ushabai Naresh Tak and Godabai Munnasingh Thakur, were sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs5,000.

According to the reports, a case of rape and cheating was filed with Manmad police on March 12, 2012 by the victim’s uncle Anil Ramchandra Vyavhare, According to the case, the victim, who sells goods at the railway compartment in Manmad Railway Station was taken to Gujarat by two women, Ushabai and Godabai. Both work as cleaning staff in the toilets at the station. They had assured the victim that they will get her married to one Thesiya (24), a resident of Wadavi, Junagadh, Gujarat.

Bharati Natwarlal Solanki, Bharat Bacchu Rupareliya, Mohanbhai Bekariya, Sumanbai Surajbhai Mishra and Julekhasaheb Pathan were told to be the middlemen to fix the marriage. The two women then sold the victim at Rs80,000. Meanwhile, Thesiya took the victim home and raped her on a number of occasions.

Advocate Vidya Jadhav pleaded on behalf of the victim as the public prosecutor, while advocate Salim Sheikh pleaded on behalf of the accused.
