The 27-year-old woman who dumped her newborn child at a secluded place near Laxmi Nagar, Nallasopara, which subsequently resulted in his death, has been arrested and charged with murder.
On January 5, DNA had reported about a baby boy being dumped by a woman at Laxmi Nagar. Police arrested Rizwana Kalim Shaikh, 27, and charged her with murder after the child succumbed to severe head injuries on Saturday at 11am.
The woman didn’t want to reveal that she was pregnant, so she lied to her husband, who stays at Jogeshwari, that she had a blood clot in the stomach. When the boy was born she draped the boy in a dupatta and dumped him close to where she resides, said a police official.
We have registered the case under section 302(Murder) of Indian Penal Code against Rizwana Shaikh.
“The neighbours informed the police about the woman being pregnant. A DNA test confirmed that it was her child,” said Mukund Mahajan, senior police inspector, Nallasopara Police Station.
