A 17-year-old girl, who boarded a share-a-rickshaw at Mumbra, was allegedly kidnapped and molested by four men on Thursday.
The police said the burkha-covered girl took a share rickshaw from Kuasa Kabrastan to go to her home at Shilpa Park. There were three male passengers and the rickshaw driver. One of them was sitting with the driver. Suddenly, she realised that the driver was not going towards her destination. The driver had taken the rickshaw on the Mumbra bypass road and took a U-turn from toll naka. She saw that all four had covered their faces with handkerchiefs. She started screaming for help.
Then stopped the rickshaw and started slapping her. They also tore her bukha. When a motorcyclist stopped hearing her shout, the four fled. “The girl and her parents then filed a complaint at the Mumbra police station,” said Arun Sonde, senior police Inspector of Mumbra police station.
