In a shameful incident, a man snatched a partially blind woman’s chain on the pretext of helping her cross the road on Wednesday.
Vatsala Mudiyar, 62, was trying to cross road with her husband on the Eastern Express Highway near Vikhroli when the chain-snatcher offered them help. Little did they know that they would be cheated in name of the kind gesture.
“At about 1pm on Wednesday, the couple was offered help while crossing the road. But when the man took them across, he snatched the woman’s gold chain, pushed her aside and fled,” said a police officer from the Vikhroli police station.
The 20gram gold chain was worth more than Rs60,000.
The police are yet to identify the accused and are on the lookout for him.
