An 18-year-old boy was found brutally murdered at Virar with assault marks on his body and head on December 31 night. The body has been identified as that of Rajnish Jha, an employee at a private firm and a resident of Phoolpada, Virar.
Rajnish was out with his friends to celebrate the New Year’s eve. The Virar police found his body at Manvelpada village near Nana Nani Park at Virar. The head was smashed with a boulder, the police said.
“He was out with his friends to celebrate the New Year’s eve. We came to know about the incident when we got a call from the police station,” said Dinesh Jha, Rajnish’s father.
Senior police inspector Chandrakant Jadhav said’ “We have registered a case of 302 (murder) under Indian Penal Code against unknown persons. We have closed in on five persons and are tracking their call records. We will soon make arrests in the case.”
The police are awaiting the post mortem reports.
