The next morning when Mubarak went to his daughter's house, he was shocked to find her dead and his son-in-law missing.

The Kalwa police are on the lookout of a 23-year-old unemployed man who allegedly killed his three-month pregnant wife on Sunday night. “The victim’s father, Mubarak Mansoor Shaikh, 52, filed a complaint against Mohammed Mustaque Shaikh on Monday. She was strangled to death with a dupatta in her house in Shantilal Mafatlal Nagar slums,” said inspector Prakash K Ekbote, Kalwa police station.

Mohammed and Yasmin Shaikh, 19, who were neighbours, had a love marriage three months ago. Mohammed even changed his religion and name from Ajay Jadhav to Mohammed Mustaque Shaikh for her.

But after marriage, the couple often had arguments over his unemployment and his drinking habit, said the police. On Sunday, at 8pm, the couple had a tiff and Yasmin went to her parents’ place. But they took her back to Mohammed’s place and explained to him that he has to look for a job. Mohammed reportedly assured them that he would start work on Monday and always take care of Yasmin.

The next morning when Mubarak went to his daughter’s house, he was shocked to find her dead and his son-in-law missing. Based on Mubarak’s complaint, the Kalwa police registered a murder case against Mohammed and launched a manhunt for him.
