The year 2010 saw the exposure of a number of major frauds and scandals involving politicians, bureaucrats, journalists, companies and even army officers. Here are five of the biggest frauds that left us shocked and outraged
2G Spectrum Scam
With notional losses running into an estimated Rs1.76 lakh crore, the scandal relating to the allotment of second-generation mobile telephony spectrum could well be the biggest of all time, not just 2010.
The so-called 2G scam brought everyone from former telecom minister A Raja to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh into the line of fire.
With recorded conversations among senior journalists, politicans and corporate lobbyist Nira Radia being released, the nexus between politics, the media and the corporate world also came to the fore.
While the Congress tried to save the government's face by forcing Raja to resign, the opposition boycotted an entire session of Parliament to demand the institution of a joint parliamentary committee to look into the alleged fraud.
