Wipro Water Ltd, a Wipro group company, has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bhavnagar based Central Salt and Marine Chemical Research Institute(CSMCRI) to undertake water purification projects.
The MoU was signed recently between Vice President and Head Wipro Water Hari Hegde and director CSMCRI Dr Puspito Ghosh.
The MoU assumes importance in the wake of Supreme court order that mandates that measures should be taken to solve the water problems faced by country and provide safe drinking water to all, a CSMCRI official told PTI.
Following the apex court directives, the Department of Science and Technology governed institutions demonstrated more than 45 to 50 models of water purification plants across the nation so far, but the irony is that they cannot be replicated on a large scale, he added.
"This MoU adds significantly to our proposition. It fits into our strategy perfectly and we are delighted to sign it," vice president & head, Wipro Water Hari Hegde said.
After this MoU, Wipro and CSMCRI will utilise their technical know-how, basic technology, engineering and manufacturing capabilities and demonstrate performance parameters of water purification projects, a Wipro company statement said.
