Tokyo stocks opened lower today following a weak lead from Wall Street and as the economic impact of the March 11 disasters on the economy was brought into focus by a fresh aftershock.
The Nikkei 225 index fell 117.44 points, or 1.21%, to 9,602.26 in early trade. The Topix slipped 10.19 points, or 1.20%, to 842.15.
