Tatas low-cost housing project floods with queries

A day after the launch of Tatas low-cost housing project, Tata Housing was flooded with queries and some even visted the site at Boiser ready with cash to book the flat.

Around 400-500 prospecting home buyers, comprising both locals and Bombayites, on Thursday turned up at the site in the morning. Seeing such rush, the company increased the number of personnel to guide them the procedure of booking a flat.

"We have increased the number of personnel on duty at the Boiser site office to facilitate appropriate and speedy information to the people on the allotment procedure and save their time," Tata Housing's managing director and chief
executive officer Brotin Banerjee said.

Intending to cashing in the rising demand for dwelling units, Tata Housing, the real estate development arm of the Tatas, unveiled "Shubh Griha" brand under which low-cost housings would be provided to the common men.

Tata Housing is offering a 283 sq ft one-room kitchen flat at just Rs 3.9 lakh at the 63.58 acre project at Boisar. A one BHK flat  of 465 sq ft would be available at Rs 6.7 lakhs.

Tata Housing had on Wednesday said that application forms for the first 1,200 flats would be available from Saturday at some select State Bank of India branches for 15 days.

Fully-filled up forms should be submitted within 30 days thereafter following which flats would be allotted through a lottery. The project would be ready within two years.

The complete township at Boiser will have a demarcated area for "affordable housing", where price may range between Rs 10-16 lakhs and hospital, school and recreational facilities among others.

Banerjee had said that Tata Housing will also start projects under the "Shubh Griha" brand name in the National Capital Region (Delhi) and Bangalore in the current fiscal itself and has plans to replicate such projects in Chennai and Kolkata followed by other Tier-I and Tier-II cities.
