Soon, Hotel Hilton to check into Ahmedabad's SG Highway

Ahmedabad may soon be home to Hilton — one of the most well-known hotel chain the world over. If things go according to plan, Hilton Hotels and Resorts will come up at a prime location on SG Highway.

Ahmedabad-based NG Group plans to partner with Hilton to set up a 22-storey 5-star hotel, which is expected to come up at the site of Gallops Mall on SG Highway. “We have closed the mall, and plan to come up with a hotel at the site. We have tied up with Hilton Hotels and

Resorts for the project,” Narsinh Patel, chairman and managing director of NG Group, told DNA.

He said that the plan was to set up a 22-storey hotel project with 240 rooms. It would also boast of other facilities.

The group plans to invest around Rs250 crore in this project.
“We will finance the project with internal accruals,” said Patel. The company has roped in a Mumbai-based architecture firm for design of the hotel. “There is no doubt that it would be a
five-star property, but we can not divulge details of amenities as the project is in the initial phase,” he said.

Once the design is submitted by Hilton Hotels and Resorts, the group will submit plans to Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). The company expects to take around two months to initiate the primary process. According to sources, the group needs to buy some properties in the mall.

However, Patel said that there is no such issue as the properties are owned by people associated with the group. The company needs to strengthen foundation of the building taking into consideration height of the building to be built.

Gallops Mall was believed to have failed to bring brisk business for the retailers who had their outlets in the mall. Now, its tenant anchor has also exited turning things from bad to worst for the promoters of the mall.
